When I started training for my first ironman 70.3 in St Croix, my wife suggested that I get some professional training. After a Facebook search and a few phone calls later it was obvious that Kristen had the plan that would fit my crazy work and travel schedule. The workouts were focused on my needs and were challenging. After 9 months I ended up finishing my first 70.3 ironman 60 minutes faster than my original plan. Thirty days later I finished Ironman 70.3 Syracuse and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Australia! Thanks Kirsten for the awesome training!
When you take a class with Kirsten Beverley-Waters you know you are in good hands. Kirsten has the ability to connect with her students by offering the strength that is so much a part of her personality. Her ability to get you to believe in yourself as she guides you through each pose is indescribable. She safely guides you through your practice, due to her exceptional knowledge of anatomy and alignment, while still making you laugh with her sense of humor. It makes for an all around balanced practice, where you get to find your own focus, your breath, a connection with self, yet also allows you to pull back and laugh at yourself when you need to. It is evident to me that her experiences allow her to connect and guide others in a meaningful way. Her own personal story is a testament to who she is as an individual and as yoga teacher. I highly recommend taking classes with Kirsten, she truly allows you to walk away feeling empowered and at peace.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kirsten when I joined a gym here in Akron. I took the morning class along with some friends and Kirsten was assigned to train us at that time. It was instant admiration. Kirsten inspired us to do so much more than what we even imagined we could do. Her energy was uplifting and got us through some pretty rough mornings. Kirsten focused on our form and made sure everything we did was safe and was something that was benefitting us. I had a personal best every week. I did more sit ups than I ever thought imaginable. My confidence levels went up and I was once again inspired, just like when I was way younger and lifting was way more easier. Kirsten is one of a kind. I miss her here in Akron. I’ve held on to what she taught me and I’ve been able to make some wonderful strides. Anyone who she trains is definitely lucky. They have an experienced coach looking out for their best interest. Kirsten is simply amazing.
Obesity was killing me and I needed more than a trainer or dietician. I needed hope. Kirsten Beverley-Waters met me with the empathy and compassion I needed to take this fitness journey seriously. For the first time in my life, I was exercising and enjoying it. I was appreciating food and what it could do for my performance. Kirsten is much more than a coach or a trainer. She is a healer and I couldn’t have imagined getting this far without her guidance, mentoring and support.
When I first met Kirsten, I was immediately struck by her incredibly bright smile and warm personality. She was obviously an athlete, in terrific shape, and radiated health and positivity. I wanted to crawl under the table, ashamed by how I had let myself go over the years. Kirsten made me feel comfortable and over the course of the next year, I followed Kirsten’s programming to the letter. When I first started training, I could not swim one lap in the pool without stopping halfway down and holding on to catch my breath. Now I was swimming 2.4 miles nonstop! I had never ridden a bike more than 20 miles in my life!!! Now I was riding 100 miles on my bike every Saturday leading up my race! On November 17, 2014, I became an Ironman! By following Kirsten’s program, I trained injury free for a year and finished the race feeling like a million bucks!!! All I had to do was trust her training program, do the work, and the results speak for themselves.
A little over 3 years ago a friend of mine asked me to do a sprint triathlon with her the following year. I said yes and later realized that I couldn’t really swim, I was 285 pounds and my running experience consisted of running from the couch to the fridge during commercial breaks. My friend got me in touch with her coach, Kirsten. We did an initial assessment to see where I was and while I saw myself as relatively hopeless, she saw the athlete I had once been and could be again. Throughout the process, she encouraged me, challenged me, pushed me and occasionally had to drag me kicking and screaming through the process. When I started, I was horribly overweight, had no self-esteem, couldn’t run a hundred yards and couldn’t swim fifty yards! That was three years, fifty pounds, two sprint triathlons, three half Ironman events and a half marathon ago! I’m not the same person I was three years ago, her support, dedication and phenomenal coaching skills have completely changed my life! She has helped me to regain a strong, healthy, active life and I can’t thank her enough.
I am a lifelong athlete that played multiple competitive sports growing up and Division III college basketball. After college, I transitioned to running and cycling and have been hooked on endurance sports ever since. I spent many years looking for the right coach to help improve my skills as an endurance athlete and I have been ecstatic with the results I have seen with Kirsten. Until now, I could never find a coach that understood how to effectively implement strength training to increase the power and speed components of endurance training. I love the programming that Kirsten has put together for me - it is the perfect blend of strength, endurance. and skill that has resulted in significant gains, podium finishes, and no nagging injuries. I look forward to my daily workouts as they challenge me both physically and mentally. All of this has been tailored to fit into a busy life with work and three young kids.
The day I first met Kirsten was in her Bootcamp class at Kent State University. She amazed me how she knew how to create workouts and programs that truly challenged the human body. Her understanding of the body and her ability to help you push beyond your limits is one of the reasons I continued to take her class. I am a professional hip-hop choreographer and movement coach. I credit much of my knowledge and expertise to this woman. I am in the best shape of my life because of her training and belief in me.
The first summer I trained with Kirsten I ran more, ate better, and trained harder than I could have ever imagined. Kirsten pushed me to keep improving throughout my freshman year cross country season and I managed to improve my 5k time by four minutes through the course of the season. Over the next four years, Kirsten would go on to be the biggest role model in my life. Not only as my trainer, but she had become a big sister to me, someone who constantly inspired me. She was my biggest cheerleader at my cross country meets, and definitely the loudest She transformed me from an awkward girl to a confident young woman. I have ran 5ks, 10ks, and even a 15k, and am preparing for a half marathon next year, something I could have never imagined possible. I am forever grateful to Kirsten for seeing the potential in me before anyone else could and for changing my life forever.
Kirsten is by far one of the most qualified, most dedicated and most outstanding trainers I have ever worked out with. After being a spinning instructor for over 8 years and working out with many professional trainers, I met Kirsten and was blown away by her incredible depth of knowledge and her ability to modify and adjust every workout and every move to each athlete’s individual needs and goals. Your success is her success. Kirsten has an ability to be encouraging and enthusiastic, but never annoying. One of her best attributes is her sincere interest in helping each client be their best self. She is focused, but fun. She has an outstanding wealth of experience and knowledge that she brings to every training session. If you are looking to improve your overall fitness and health, I cannot emphasize enough what a dynamic and amazing trainer Kirsten is for all of her clients.
Coach Kirsten has taught me how to push myself harder while honoring my body. She told me that being able to do an “advanced’ movement does not make you better or worse than any student in the room. Honoring your body is what allows you to transcend the labels and competition. If you honor yourself you will always improve. From her I have learned how to be patient with myself, and how to enjoy my fitness journey rather than just focusing on the desired outcomes. With Coach Kirsten’s encouragement, I have stepped out of my comfort zone and expanded my mindset.
